| My interest in photography was sparked at a young age by my father. The basement darkroom with the red lights, trays and prints and negatives hanging was a familiar site. Over the years photography was a part of my family life. The camera was present at all family events. Capturing our lives on film. Documenting outings to the pumpkin patch at Halloween, Christmas morning, every birthday and school event. Inheriting my own camera in high school and having an available darkroom there I began taking photos at the areas sporting events for the local newspaper in my hometown of Stratford, Connecticut. Knowing I wanted to pursue a career in photography I applied and was accepted to attend Parsons School of Design in New York City. With my creative interests constantly evolving and leading from one interest to the next and back again I started Jennifer Jane Handbags. Designing and manufacturing unique, handmade handbags which are distributed throughout Connecticut and New York. Designing fashion accessories satisfying that creative itch I was drawn back to the field of photography. I worked as a freelance photographer and columnist for The New Haven Register photographing society and events. The camera was once again part of my daily life. Travelling around New Haven and the globe I captured many landscapes, cityscapes, people and places. Seeking to exhibit this photography, I found it impossible. Many emerging photographers I meet along the way expressed the same lament. So I took the glitch in our plans in my own hands and Exposure Exhibitions was born, then Exposure Gallery in the Audubon Arts District . Now we are able to expose fine art photography from many photographers throughout the world on this website and 838 Whalley Avenue in the Westville Arts District of New Haven, Connecticut! |
